Vancouver Fishing Report January 2019

Well 2019 is off to a good start, we’ve had seriously good fishing this Winter in the Vancouver area. We’ve also had milder temperatures than the past two Winters, which kind of nice, allowing us the opportunity to get out on the water more.

Vancouver Fly Fishing Report January 2019

After a slower Fall salmon season we were curious to know how our Winter season was going to go. Our local trout populations depend heavily on the remnants of the Fall salmon runs, feed on eggs and flesh through the Winter months. Even with the lower than average return of salmon this past Fall the trout are still on the feed.

So far we’ve had good trout fishing on all our trips. Mainly swinging egg flies and variety of beads which imitate eggs. With less snow this Winter than in years past, we also have a bit better access to our local rivers and our Winter fly fishing trips have all be going smoothly.

We are offering our annual Winter Fly Fishing Special, running from December 1st to March 1st, so you can save a few bucks booking a trip with us this time of year. We have open availability in January and February for our Vancouver fly fishing trips but March and April are already booking up quickly. Have a look at our Vancouver fly fishing trips page for more info and if you’d like to book a trip please email the office chromersportfishing@gmail.com or call toll-free 1-877-902-3393 to book.

Vancouver Salmon Fishing Report January 2019

Pretty decent start to the 2019 Vancouver salmon fishing season. Obviously we’re not running a ton of trips this time of year, but with nice water conditions and good weather there’s been more trips than ever. Fishing has been good, we’re seeing chinook (king) salmon on all our trips, granted most are on the smaller size, but some legal fish as well.

There is loads of bait fish in local waters, this bodes well as we move into February, March and April, seemingly fish size will increase at that time.

Fraser River Sturgeon Fishing Report January 2019

January isn’t generally a time when people are thinking sturgeon fishing, fair enough, it’s a bit cold, but the Fraser River sturgeon fishing in January has been solid this year. Some smaller fish on the lower Fraser River and a few larger fish being caught on our remote canyon trips.

We have some very good availability throughout the winter for our Vancouver sturgeon fishing trips, so if you’re looking for an outing on the Fraser River, have a look at our BC sturgeon fishing page, email us at chromersportfishing@gmail.com or give us a call toll-free in North America 1-877-902-3393.
