Where can we go fishing close to Vancouver?

Surprisingly enough there are a ton of great places to go fishing close to Vancouver. You can go fishing right from downtown for salmon, that’s where are Vancouver salmon fishing charters are headquartered.  Then 45 minutes up the road you have the Squamish River system that offers year-round fishing for salmon, trout and steelhead. East of Vancouver, you’ll find the Fraser Valley, home to fantastic salmon and sturgeon fishing. You really don’t have to go far to get into some great fishing near Vancouver!

When’s the best time to go fishing in Vancouver?

We’re pretty lucky that we have fishing opportunities all year round. Obviously some times are better than others. Peak months for saltwater salmon fishing are mid March to late September. On our fly fishing trips the most popular dates are early March to late November but there is also winter fly fishing opportunities as well. The best months for a Vancouver sturgeon fishing trip are from April to early November. Regardless of the month you’re visiting Vancouver you will find fishing to be had! How much are your trips?

Pricing for fishing trips varies based on what trip you’d like, trip length and group size. Our pricing is in line with higher quality operations, if you’re shopping around you’ll find the most reputable longest operating services charging nearly the same price. This isn’t by accident, as it creates a level playing field for serious full time operations. Cheaper trips are generally offered by companies with less experience and lesser equipment. Like everything you get what you pay for.

I don’t have any experience, can I go fishing?

Of course you can! We love introducing people to fishing and making sure they get the most out of their day. It can be intimidating trying something new and we don’t want anyone to feel as if they need to be good at fishing to come on a trip with us. We’ve introduced 1000’s of people to the sport of fishing. If you’re looking to learn, or experience something new, then know our guides will take great care of you, making extra sure you have an awesome fishing experience with us.

Is fishing gear included? 

Yes, all our trips include all the fishing gear you’ll need for the day.

How do payments and cancellations work?

Payments are done securely online. Upon booking we’ll send you a detailed reservation confirmation that will have all the details for your trip, including a link to buying your license, meet/pickup info, what to bring and link to a secure online invoice. You can pay that invoice with either  a Visa or MasterCard. Deposit payments will secure your space with us. Trips cancelled due to weather, ocean or river conditions are fully refundable and all trip payments are transferable if you need to change a date.

Are food and drinks included? 

We do not include food and drinks on our Vancouver salmon charters or our Vancouver fly fishing trips. We do include lunch on our sturgeon fishing trips though. You are welcome to bring along food and drinks for any of our trips.

Can kids come fishing? 

Of course they can! We are happy to welcome kids onboard our Vancouver salmon charters and Fraser River sturgeon fishing trips. Depending on age and ability kids are welcome on our Vancouver fly fishing trips but it is best to inquire prior to booking. During certain portions of the year river conditions are favourable to younger anglers and we always want to play it safe.

How do we get a BC fishing license?

Getting either a tidal (saltwater) or non-tidal (freshwater) BC fishing licenses is really easy. All fishing licenses are available online. When you book with us we’ll send you a link and instructions on how to buy your BC fishing license prior to you trip. Very few guiding operations offer hard copy licenses anymore, so buying them prior to your trip is the best option. License costs range in the $5-$25 range, per day. based on residency.

What’s the best trip if I don’t have much time? 

For those of you who don’t have time to do a full-day trip we do offer two different half-day Vancouver fishing trips. Our half-day Vancouver salmon charters are super popular and a great option if you’re on a time crunch. These are really popular with people coming in on cruise ships with limited time. We also offer half-day fly fishing trips on the Squamish River. These are a fun trip for beginner anglers looks to get their feet wet and learn about fly fishing.

How do I book a trip?

That’s always a question we like to hear! Booking a trip is super easy. We just need to know what date you would like and how many people in your group.
