Our Vancouver salmon fishing charters leave from Granville Island in downtown Vancouver. Be at the boats within minutes of all the downtown Vancouver hotels and Vancouver’s cruise ship terminal. It really doesn’t get any easier or closer than this, fishing minutes from downtown!

After your trip you can explore Granville Island, one of Vancouver’s top tourist attractions. This bustling public market has shopping, artisan shops, great restaurants and lively bars all within two minute walking distance of the boat marina.
Generally the majority of the salmon fishing we do is within 10-30 minutes from Granville Island. Sometimes we run a little further in order to put our guests in the best possible fishing. There are a variety of calm water protected areas to fish, so everyone is always comfortable.

We’re looking forward to a solid year of fishing in 2018. Local salmon fishing here in Vancouver was pretty good most of the 2017 season, some slower sections which we don’t like to see, but the Department of Fisheries & Oceans are formatting better chinook/king returns for BC’s south coast in 2018. Ocean conditions and factors such as healthy bait fish populations bode well for us that we’ll have a good year of salmon fishing around Vancouver, Howe Sound and the southern Gulf Islands.

  • Expecting another solid year of fishing in 2018 with good early forecasts!
  • Strong early season April & May fishing for chinook salmon.
  • Forecasts for another good Summer salmon fishery around Vancouver!

During the 2017 season in April and May we had really good chinook salmon fishing in Howe Sound (accessed on our full-day trips), with lots of fish in the high teen range. This year we’re expecting the same, if not better as early numbers are definitely up.  As we move into June we can sometimes have a lull in the local fishing, that happens every year but then it fires up again later in the month. July through late September 2018 should see lots of local action, specifically in the Vancouver area and off the mouth of the Fraser River. Cooler ocean conditions over the winter and lots of early season bait mean fish will be hanging out longer and be more active, we like that!  All in all we’re expecting a really good year, for an up-to-date report contact us, we’ll give you the latest update on whats going our with salmon fishing in Vancouver.

If you’re shopping around make sure you’re fishing with full-time guides who are out on the water all season, that’s what our guys are doing all year long, not all companies can boast the type of Vancouver salmon fishing experience we can! Also on crew are guides Billy, Paul and Greg, all extremely experienced saltwater guides having spent many years guiding up and down the British Columbia coast. This is the crew to fish with in Vancouver if you’re serious about getting hooked up with the right guys.

From July through to September our local waters around Vancouver offer consistent salmon fishing for all five species of Pacific salmon, including chinooks (kings), cohos (silvers), pinks and sockeye. This is a popular time for salmon fishing in Vancouver, with generally nice weather and favourable ocean conditions. The fishing we do in the Summer months is usually done locally, along the West Vancouver shoreline or off the mouth of the Fraser River. The Fraser River is home to millions of returning salmon each Summer and they have to swim by us before going into their native spawning grounds.

  • We can target all five species of Pacific salmon during the Summer months.
  • Some of the fishing is within 20 minutes of the dock to maximize your day!
  • Freezing & boxing services are easily available for taking your fish home.
Come August and September the focus is fishing for big chinook (king) salmon off the mouth of the Capilano River, a short 15 minute run from the boat moorage. This is often when we see the biggest fish of our year, with consistent fishing for chinooks in the 15-25 pound range! This is a great time to be here, but remember dates do book up early for Summer charters so its good to book early.

Winter fishing?  You bet, Vancouver enjoys a 365 day a year salmon fishery. During the Winter months it may be a bit wet and a tad cool but there is definitely some saltwater fishing to be had. Come Spring time the fishing picks up big time, February through April offers excellent fishing for chinook salmon. Local waters team with life during the Winter months, as feeder (juvenile) chinook salmon come into Vancouver harbour and Howe Sound to feed on the amassing bait. With variable weather conditions fishing can be sometime tricky, but if you don’t mind a bit of cold then there are ample Vancouver salmon fishing opportunities to be had.

  • Yes, we’re salmon fishing 365 days a year, even in the Winter months!
  • We enjoy very good local king salmon fishing in April and May.
  • Freezing & boxing services are easily available for taking your fish home.

Spring months offer some of the best fishing of the year, especially in the Howe Sound area, north of Vancouver. This inlet, flanked by snow capped mountains, and dotted with small islands offers a solid rearing ground for chinook salmon that feed heavily on the herring. Another favourite spot, as we move into later April and May is the southern Gulf Islands, where fishing for chinooks in the 10-20 pound range can be very consistent.  Both areas are accessed on our full-day 10 hour trips.

Getting into some solid salmon fishing doesn’t have to be complicated or include big travel plans. We’ve combined hotel accommodations at the Granville Island Hotel with our day charters for an affordable and fun BC fishing package. The hotel is within walking distance of the boat moorage, about 5 minutes away, and there are great restaurants as well.  These are easy to enjoy packages, we can build them for any length of time for any size group.

  • Hotel is perfectly located only steps from the boats and minutes from downtown.
  • Save on your Vancouver hotel with our preferred pricing.
  • Our packages are totally flexible and we can even arrange for transportation services.
Packages include hotel accommodations right on Granville Island and full days of guided salmon fishing. For a detailed quote please let us know how many days you’d like to fish and how many nights accommodation and we’ll send you detailed pricing.
